A few recent notes from families and travellers who joined us on the river, the trail, and the horses.
We went rafting for the first time as a family with our 8 and 10 year old children and we are glad we chose Pony Club. Our guide was very good with humor and kindness and gave us information about the place and the river. We hope to come back again someday!
We had a great time at the activities with Acherontas which included rafting, horse riding and walking in the river. The pony club team and especially Mr. Christos who accompanied us on the rafting were amazing, they guided us and informed us about everything we needed to make our experience unique! I highly recommend them!
Yes - everything is built for families. Children can ride horses from age 4, raft from age 6 (with a parent in the same boat), and kayak from age 8. Experienced guides lead every activity and all safety equipment is provided.
Refreshingly cold - the Acheron is spring-fed, so it stays between 11 and 15°C even when the coast hits 35°C. Most of the trip is spent above the water, and the splash is the best part of a hot summer day. Life jackets are always provided.
Swimwear, a towel, and water shoes or old trainers; closed-toe shoes with grip for the canyon walk. Leave phones and valuables at our base - we have a secure area at the meeting point.
Light rain is fine. In case of storms or unsafe water levels we call the activity off, and since you pay on the day there is nothing to cancel and nothing to refund. If your plans change, simply come another day.
Yes - families come as they are, adults and children together, and you pay for everyone on the day. For larger groups or school visits, call us at +30 698 661 7090 and we'll arrange the day in advance.
No experience needed - routes are beginner-friendly, guides walk beside every rider, and non-swimmers are welcome with a life jacket (just tell your guide). The short trekking routes suit all fitness levels.
Greek welfare rules stop horses working once the forecast reaches 39°C, and from 35°C they stop at 12:00. On those days we cancel the horse rides and refund you in full, even if we have to call you on the morning itself. The river does not mind the heat, so rafting and kayaking go ahead.
